Darling Named SEC Golfer of the Week

South Carolina Athletics

Fourth POTW honor for the three-time All-American after her lights out start to the 2024-25 season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior All-American Hannah Darling was named SEC Golfer of the Week the league office announced on Wednesday. It’s the fourth time Darling has received player of the week honors from the best conference in women’s collegiate golf.

Darling has been on a tear to start the year with a win at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 9-11) and runner-up medalist honors at the Mason Rudolph Championship (Sep. 20-22). She helped fourth-ranked Gamecocks to victory at the ANNIKA with her win and a runner-up team finish at the Mason Rudolph.

Through two events, the Midlothian, Scotland, native leads the SEC in scoring average at 67.67 and is one of just four players in the league with a sub-70, 18-hole average. Her winning score of 202 (-14) at the ANNIKA was a new, career-best mark and T-3rd lowest, 18-hole score in program history. She went birdie-birdie on the final two holes at Royal Golf Club to defeat senior All-American teammate Louise Rydqvist by a shot.

Darling is a combined 26-under with 31 birdies over the course of 108 holes played so far this season. She entered her final season in Garnet and Black this fall with the lowest career scoring average in program history.

The team has two fall events remaining at the Windy City Collegiate (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) and the Jackson T. Stephens Cup (Oct. 21-23).
