Collins Named SEC Freshman of the Week
BIRMINGHAM, AL – Katie Shea Collins has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. The nod marks the fourth SEC honor of the season for Collins, and her third Freshman of the Week award. The three rookie honors mark the most for a freshman in one season in program history.
This past week against Alabama (Oct. 18), Collins netted a brace at home and a season-high five shots with three on target. The freshman has now scored the game’s first goal in four of the last five matches and has recorded a goal in six of 11 appearances.
Her nine goals are the second-most on the team, and she currently holds the top spot in the conference for goals per game as a rookie (0.82). Collins also holds the No. 2 spot in points per game (1.73), the most of any freshman in the SEC.
