Gamecocks Draw with Tennessee For Final SEC Road Game

KNOXVILLE, TN – The No. 22 ranked Gamecock women’s soccer team (7-1-7, 4-1-3) finished with a 1-1 draw against Tennessee Thursday night to round out conference play on the road.

  • South Carolina got things started early, with fifth-year Cat Barry taking the game’s first shot just 30 seconds into the game. It was on target, but met by a save by Volunteer keeper Ally Zazzara
  • Tennessee took over possession for the next ten minutes, with their first corner of the game followed by their first shot in the 12th minute. Junior Gamecock keeper Tina Tsaousis kept them at bay with a save at the top left corner
  • The Volunteers took eight more chances throughout the first half, but were unable to connect
  • In the 30th minute, junior Micah Bryant sent a beautiful pass up to Barry at midfield, where she took matters into her own hands all the way into the box and juked a defender to put it past Zazzara in the far left corner to make things 1-0 heading into halftime
  • In the second half, Tennessee put up nine corners to the Gamecocks’ one, but the South Carolina defense held them scoreless
