Barry Sets Program Record in 4-1 Quarterfinals Win Over Alabama
PENSACOLA, FL – South Carolina women’s soccer took down Alabama in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament Tuesday night, 4-1. The Gamecocks saw two first ever goals from sophomores Amanda Patrick and Autumn Cayelli.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gamecocks took the first chance of the game in the 10th minute by rookie Katie Shea Collins, with the ball being on target but met by a save from Alabama keeper Coralie Lallier
- Just 30 seconds later, sophomore Amanda Patrick sent in a shot off a corner kick from Cuyler Zulauf, sneaking it past Lallier for her first career goal to put the Gamecocks up 1-0 early
- South Carolina took four more attempts on goal and kept the Crimson Tide to just one shot that was wide to the right
- In the 32nd minute, a foul on Collins set the Gamecocks up for a penalty kick. Fifth-year Cat Bary took the shot, connecting on the attempt for her third PK of the season to make things 2-0 heading into the break
- In the second half, South Carolina came out swinging, battling back and forth for possession and taking two shots until sophomore Autumn Cayelli sent in a rocket from Kinley Brown to extend the lead to three for her first-ever career goal in the 75th minute
- In the 83rd minute, a foul on Barry inside the 18 set the Gamecocks up for their second PK of the game, which the fifth-year took and converted for her 15th goal of the season. The goal also marked the 48th of her career and helped set the new program record for career points at 121
- Two minutes later, Alabama got on the board after taking a PK of their own
- Junior keeper Tina Tsaousis had six saves on the night

The Gamecocks will look to take on the No. 1 seed Mississippi State on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 4:30 p.m. ET in the semifinal round of the SEC Tournament.
