Gamecocks Fall at No. 5/6 UCLA
LOS ANGELES – No. 1/1 South Carolina women’s basketball lost for the first time since the 2023 NCAA Final Four, falling at No. 5/6 UCLA 77-62 on Sunday afternoon.
The Bruins put the Gamecocks on their heels early with a 20-10 lead after the first quarter and kept the pressure on with hot shooting throughout the game.
South Carolina is back in action on Thu., Nov. 28, at the Elevance Health Fort Myers Tipoff against No. 8/8 Iowa State.

Senior Te-Hina Paopao led the offense for the third time this season with 18 points, dropping a season-high four 3s to tie for the most for a Gamecock this season.

Sophomore Tessa Johnson had a dominant first half, netting 12 of the Gamecocks’ first 17 points, finishing with 14 for her second game in double figures.

Junior Ashlyn Watkins was active on both sides of the ball for South Carolina, putting up eight points in addition to four boards and a team-high two blocks and three steals

Freshman Maddy McDaniel posted four points in the second half while handing out a team-high four assists and grabbing two steals along the way.
