Catherine Barry named United Soccer Coaches All-American

KANSAS CITY, MO – United Soccer Coaches announced the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s All-Americans, with fifth-year Catherine Barry receiving a Third Team selection. The All-America nod is the second of her career, joining just six others out of 48 selections to have earned it for a second time.

Barry had a record-breaking year with the Gamecocks, setting new program records for career goals (51), career points (129), and career game-winners (18). She finishes her time with South Carolina within the top five for career shots (322), assists (27), games started (98) and games played (101).

During the 2024 season, Barry recorded the program’s eighth-ever hat trick (vs. Georgia State, Sept. 15) and set a new season-high record of 18 goals throughout the year, passing Savannah McCaskill’s 17 in 2016. Her 44 points during the season are the second-most in South Carolina history, and she finished perfect at the penalty spot going 6-for-6 on the year.

In the preseason, Barry was named to the SEC Preseason Watchlist, the United Soccer Coaches’ Player to Watch, No. 35 in the Top Drawer top-100, and was a MAC Hermann Trophy watchlist selection. During the year, Barry was the NCAA and SEC Player of the Week (Sept. 16), an All-SEC First Team selection, and All-SEC Tournament Team member. She was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region First Team for the third time in her career.
