Veteran head coach the first in program history to be awarded prestigious honor ; Congaree Golf Club near Ridgeland set to host Arnold Palmer Cup June 6-8

LAS VEGAS – The 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup is coming to The Lowcountry in June and a familiar face will be leading the way as Kalen Anderson has been named co-head coach for Team USA at the prestigious event.

Congaree Golf Club just outside of Ridgeland, S.C. will play host to the prestigious tournament June 6-8. The Ryder Cup style event pits Team USA versus Team International in a battle of the top amateur golfers in the world.

Anderson is the first coach in Gamecock golf history to be named head coach for either side in the event.

She will serve as co-head coach on the American side with Auburn men’s golf head coach Nick Clinard, who helped lead the Tigers to an NCAA Championship in May.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be able to join the USA coaching staff for the 2025 edition of the Arnold Palmer Cup,” said Anderson. “I couldn’t be more excited for this special opportunity to represent my country and my home state of South Carolina at Congaree Golf Club next summer.”

Anderson has turned South Carolina into a women’s golf powerhouse over the last 18 seasons with 27 tournament wins, five NCAA Regional titles and 13 NCAA Championship appearances with a pair of top-five wins. The four-time SEC Coach of the Year has the Gamecocks a perennial top-10 team and the squad has boasted multiple All-America selections for nine consecutive seasons. The team has also made four-straight NCAA Championship appearances with a T-5th finish in 2023 at Grayhawk.

Under Anderson, South Carolina has had six Arnold Palmer Cup selections most recently highlighted by the senior All-American duo of Hannah Darling (Scotland) and Louise Rydqvist (Sweden) for Team International last summer in Ireland.

This year’s Gamecock squad finished the fall No. 3 in Clippd Team Rankings after one win and a pair of runner-up finishes. Darling (No. 7), Rydqvist (No. 21) and sophomore Maylis Lamoure (No. 45) are all ranked in the top-50 of the Clippd Player Rankings. The team added a top-20 player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings in Eila Galitsky from Thailand as well in the November signing period. She will arrive in January and be immediately eligible.
