No. 8 Gamecock Equestrian Kicks Off Spring Slate Against Lynchburg

COLUMBIA, SC – The No. 8 Gamecock Equestrian team (2-3, 0-3) look to open up the second half of the season at home, taking on No. 2 ranked Lynchburg* (4-2, 201) at 11:00 a.m. at One Wood Farm**.

LAST TIME OUT

South Carolina took on the single discipline team of Sweet Briar, defeating the Vixens 9-1. The Gamecocks swept both available MOPs, and recorded a clean sheet (5-0) on the Flat. Sophomore Sarah Rabb recorded a season-high of 89 on Barnaby, while junior Natalie Jayne tallied a 94 on Tanner to tie the record for the highest Flat score in program history, earning her the second MOP of the season in the event.

In Fences, the Gamecocks took things 4-1, with freshman Amira Kettaneh leading the way with an 80-64 win on Schnitzel. For her ride, Kettaneh earned her third MOP of the season in Fences this year, the most for any Gamecock.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS

Friday’s meet with Lynchburg will be the fourth in program history, and the Gamecocks lead the series at 3-0. South Carolina last saw the Hornets in the fall of 2023, taking home a 7-0 victory with Jayne picking up MOPs for both Flat and Fences. Lynchburg heads into the meet as three-time consecutive single-discipline NCEA National Champions (2022-24).
