
Cross Country Named All-Academic Team
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Jan. 31, 2025) – For the 26th time in program history, South Carolina Cross Country was named USTFCCCA All-Academic Team as announced by the USTFCCCA league office on Thursday evening. In addition, standout runner Teresa Cherotich earned the recognition as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete.
To earn All-Academic Team, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. In order to be named an All-Academic Athlete, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
Cherotich finished 13th overall at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet in Rock Hill, S.C., running 20:51.3. The Kenya product posted the sixth best individual finish by a Gamecock at the Southeast Regional but fell just short of qualifying for an at-large spot into the NCAA Championship. Cherotich also earned both All-SEC Second Team and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
