South Carolina Athletics
Tip is noon (ET) on ESPN2 as Gamecocks seek their third-straight win over the Wildcats dating back to 2023
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina (10-12, 0-9 SEC) heads to Rupp Arena this Saturday to face No. 14/14 Kentucky (15-7, 4-5 SEC). John Schriffen (pxp) and Daymeon Fishback (analyst) will be on the call for the noon (ET) broadcast on ESPN2.
The Gamecocks have won two consecutive games over the Wildcats dating back to a 71-68 win on Jan. 10, 2023 in head coach Lamont Paris’ first season at the helm. Paris is one of just three coaches (Eddie Fogler and Darrin Horn the others) in program history to win a game at Rupp.
Carolina defeated No. 6/6 Kentucky, 79-62, at home last season on Jan. 23. It was the Gamecocks’ largest margin of victory ever over an AP top-10 team.
Kentucky is led by first-year head coach and alum Mark Pope. They own one of the best wins in the country this season with a neutral site win over No. 2/2 Duke, 77-72, back on Nov. 12 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
The Wildcats have one of the nation’s best offenses, averaging 87.0 points per game (third in the country behind only Alabama and Gonzaga). They lead the league in assists per game (17.9) and 3-pointers per game (10.5), ranking in the top-20 nationally in each category. UK is 11-2 at home this season with both losses coming in league action (Florida on Jan. 4 and Arkansas on Feb. 1).
Kentucky will be the 10th top-25 opponent of the season for the Gamecocks, seven of which have come in SEC play.
