Stephenson Reins in Second MOP at No. 1 Auburn

AUBURN, AL – The No. 8 Gamecocks (3-4, 1-4) put up a fight against No. 1 Auburn (9-1, 3-1) Saturday, ultimately falling 6-14.

The Gamecocks got things started on the Flat, with South Carolina taking the event over the Tigers 3-2. Natalie Jayne began with a 74-70 win over Ellie Ferrigno, while Mary Hunter Millet kept the points rolling for South Carolina after posting a 76.5-76 victory against Ariana Marnell. The Tigers took the next two points, but Sarah Rabb took the winning point for the Gamecocks, defeating Kate Hagerty 69-67.5.

South Carolina then defeated Auburn 3-2 in Reining, with Chloe Stephenson leading the way with a 71.25-70.25 win over Callie Hogg. For her ride, Stephenson earned her second MOP in a row (previously vs. Texas A&M). Olivia Cardi (69-68.5) and Haley Turner (69-67) took the remaining points, giving the Gamecocks a 6-4 lead at the half.

Auburn then swept Fences (5-0) and Horsemanship (5-0) in the second half to take the win.
