
Equestrian Picks Up Top-10 Win on the Road
FRESNO, CA – The No. 8 Gamecocks (5-5, 1-4) had a solid outing to the west coast, heading home 2-0 after defeating No. 6 Fresno State 11-9 on Saturday. It marked the third top-10 win for South Carolina this season.
The day got started in Fences, where the Gamecocks took things 4-1 over the Bulldogs. Kenley Koch got the points rolling with her 83-78 win over Bridey Jones, followed by Bella Primavera defeating her little sister Paloma Primavera 82-80 on Duke. The Bulldogs answered back with a point of their own, but Amira Kettaneh (84-65) and Natalie Jayne (87-82) finished out the event with two more points for South Carolina. For her ride, Jayne picked up an MOP.
In Horsemanship, the Bulldogs bounced back taking the event 4-1 over South Carolina to make things tied 5-5 overall at the half. Tierney Horton earned the sole point for the Gamecocks with her 75-73.5 win over Abby Goddard on Flynn.
The second half started on the Flat, and the Gamecocks nearly swept Fresno State in the event 4-1 Sophie Mitchell defeated Autumn Bradbury 74-66, followed by Amira Kettaneh earning her point 88-71 over Yasmin Roman on Donut along with an MOP honor. Mary Hunter Millet took her point 79-77, and Natalie Jayne earned the meet winning point 84-83 over Paris Mahoney.
Despite falling to Fresno State 3-2 in Reining, the Gamecocks came out with the win. Chloe VanStone defeated Shelby Robinette 69.5-68, and Haley Turner rounded out the scoring for the day with her 69.5-65 win against Adrianna Runzo.
