
Equestrian Grabs Another Top-10 Win on Senior Day
BLYTHEWOOD, SC – The No. 7 Gamecocks (6-5) rounded out the regular season with another top-10 win under their belt, taking down the No. 10 Skyhawks of UT Martin 11-7. South Carolina took three of four MOPs on the day, and nine seniors were recognized in their final home meet of their career.
The day got started in Fences, with South Carolina completing the near sweep after coming out on top 4-1 in the event. Kenley Koch got the first point of the day with her 83-74 win over Gabby Adams, followed by Natalie Jayne earning an 86-84 victory on Dento over Kat Mills. For her ride, Natalie picked up her fourth MOP of the season in Fences. Amira Kettaneh kept things rolling on Schnitzel, earning her point 85-74 over Bridget Vieau. Grace Rabb rounded out the event with a point of her own, defeating Emerson Maier 79-71 on MJ.
The Skyhawks made things tight heading into halftime, taking Horsemanship 3-2. Jordyn Humbert earned a strong point for the Gamecocks on Z 73-66.5 over Lexi Bailey, followed by Tierney Horton defeating Ava Newsom by nearly 25 points, 75-51.5 on Chubby, to make things 6-4 at the half.
The day continued on the Flat, with South Carolina taking things 3-1. Amira Kettaneh earned her second MOP of the season in the event after defeating Payton Lassen 87-66 for the highest Flat score of the day. Natalie Jayne kept things rolling with her 80-72 point on Campino, followed by Sophie Mitchell’s 79-72 victory on Major. The Gamecocks’ Mary Hunter Millet tied things up with Gabby Adams 75-75.
Reining finished the meet out with a nail-biting 2-2 finish. After a 72.5-72.5 tie between fifth-year Chloe Stephenson and Lexi Bailey, Haley Turner earned the first Reining point of the day with her 72-70.5 victory over Aubrey Malone. For her ride, Turner picked up the third MOP of her career. Freshman Olivia Cardi took the last point of the day, defeating Elise Mason 71-67.5 on Okie.
