No. 4 Gamecocks Host Regular Season Finale Monday at Old Barnwell

South Carolina Athletics

Will be second edition of the Old Barnwell Derby Matchplay, an all-match play team event that features eight top-25 programs this year

AIKEN, S.C. – No. 4 South Carolina is set to host the second annual Old Barnwell Derby Matchplay on Monday and Tuesday. The all-match play event will feature eight top-25 teams with each squad guaranteed three matches.

The Gamecocks won the inaugural event last year defeating Duke in the title bout on tiebreak criteria.

Carolina, who is the top seed in the field with the highest national ranking, will face the No. 4 Blue Devils in its opening match on Monday. The first group of players in the match will be off at 8:30 a.m. (ET) on hole one. All teams will play their next match in the afternoon with final matches starting at 8:30 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday.

It is the team’s final event of the regular season. The six-player lineup for South Carolina will feature senior All-Americans Hannah Darling and Lousie Rydqvist. They’ll be joined by freshman Eila Galitsky, sophomore Maylis Lamoure, sophomore Vairana Heck and graduate Sophia Burnett.

Nestled on 575 acres of sandy soil and rolling hills surrounded by towering longleaf and loblolly pines, Old Barnwell is a private national club near historic Aiken opening in 2023. The event this week is free and open to the public.

Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
