
Lamoure Tabbed SEC Golfer of the Week

Sophomore went 3-0 for the Gamecocks at Old Barnwell this week in the all match play team event
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Maylis Lamoure was tabbed SEC Golfer of the Week the league office announced on Wednesday. It’s her second SEC Player of the Week honor this season. She shares the honor this week with Texas’ Lauren Kim who won the Betsy Rawls Invitational.
The two-year starter for the No. 4 Gamecocks was perfect this week, going 3-0 in her matches at the Old Barnwell Derby Matchplay. She helped the team to a runner-up finish and a pair of 4-1 wins over No. 22 Duke in the quarterfinals and No. 12 Virgina in the semifinals.
On Monday, Lamoure took down the Blue Devils’ Carla De Troia, 4&3, in the quarters in and the Cavaliers’ Megan Propeck, 3&2, in the semis. On Tuesday, Lamoure put the second point on the board for Carolina in the title match against No. 9 Wake Forest after she made birdie on 18 to defeat Chole Kovelesky, 1-up.
Of her 49 holes played at Old Barnwell, Lamoure trailed for just four in her trio of matches.
The Gamecocks finished in the top-five in all seven of the team’s regular season events playing one of the toughest schedules in the country. The team will return to action at the SEC Championship (April 14-18) at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla.
