No. 18 Gamecocks T-1st at Bulls Bay Thanks to Low Final Round

South Carolina Athletics

Carolina shot a tournament best 270 (-18) in the final round with three bogey free scores from its four counters

AWENDAW, S.C. – No. 18 South Carolina came from 10 shots back in the final round to tie for first at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The Gamecocks fired an impressive 270 (-18) in the final round led by a bogey free 64 (-8) from redshirt junior Frankie Harris who earned runner-up medalist honors.

The low round was the team’s lowest 18-hole score at Bulls Bay Golf Club in 19 years of the event. It was the low round of the tournament as well for any of the 15 teams competing this week.

The Boilermakers took home the championship trophies winning the one-hole cumulative playoff at the par-3 14th hole thanks to a trio of birdies from their five players in their lineup. Both teams will get co-championship credit in the Clippd rankings system.

With the team’s co-victory, it marks the first career win for head coach Rob Bradley and the sixth time the Gamecocks have finished atop the leaderboard at the Hootie.

Harris now has three top-five finishes this season and six for his career. His 54-hole score of 204 (-12) tied his career low.

Junior Zach Adams and senior All-American Nathan Franks also put together strong bogey free final rounds today. Adams shot 68 (-4) as he finished T-3rd at 11-under. His 54-hole score of 205 was a new career-low mark and the top-finish this week was the first of his career.

Franks shot 69 (-3) in round three as he finished T-22nd at 4-under (212) for the tournament. Freshman Marek Fleming put together a nice final round as well with a 3-under 69 that included an eagle at the par-3 sixth hole.
