
Darling, Galitsky and Rydqvist to Compete at ANWA Starting Wednesday

The trio of players all ranked in the top-20 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings
EVANS, Ga. – A trio of top-20 players in the World Amateur Golf Rankings from the No. 5 South Carolina women’s golf squad are set to tee it up in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur (ANWA) starting Wednesday. Senior All-Americans Hannah Darling (No. 15) and Lousie Rydqvist (No. 9) and highly touted freshman Eila Galitsky (No. 18) will all compete in what will be the sixth edition of the prestigious event that helps kick off Masters week in the Augusta area.
All three players made the 36-hole cut last season with Darling finishing seventh at 1-under (215) and Galitsky finishing T-8th at 1-over (217). Rydqvist T-24th at 5-over (221). Darling was the 18-hole leader of the tournament after shooting 66 (-6) in the opening round.
Galitsky will be the eighth different Gamecock to compete in the ANWA since its inception in 2019. All-American Pauline Roussin-Bouchard has the best finish by South Carolina player in the event as she T-3rd in 2021 at 2-over (218). She shot 70 (-2) in the final round at Augusta National Golf Club and was one of only five players who made the cut to post a red number the last 18 holes of the tournament.
The ANWA was announced on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, by Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley during his annual press conference at the Masters Tournament. The tournament was established to inspire greater interest and participation in the women’s game by creating a new, exciting and rewarding pathway players to fulfill their dreams.
An international field of 72 women amateurs will compete over 54 holes of stroke play. The opening two rounds will take place Wednesday and Thursday at Champions Retreat Golf Club. A cut will take place after 36 holes, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday. In the event of a tie after 54 holes, the winner will be decided by sudden-death playoff.
The field for the 2025 Championship will consist of the following players based on the following qualifications:
- Reigning U.S. Women’s Amateur Champion
- Reigning Women’s Amateur Champion
- Reigning Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Champion
- Reigning Girls’ Amateur Champion
- Reigning U.S. Girls’ Junior Champion
- Reigning Girls Junior PGA Champion
- Reigning NCAA Division I Women’s Individual Champion
- Past champions of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur within the last five years
- The 30 highest ranked players from the United States of America based on the prior year’s (2024) final Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking, not otherwise qualified
- After qualifications 1-8 above, the 30 highest ranked players not otherwise qualified, as listed on the prior year’s (2024) final Women’s World Amateur Ranking
- Players receiving special invitations from the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Committee
The first and second rounds of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur will be broadcast live on Golf Channel (1:30-3:30 p.m. ET) from Champions Retreat. NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (Noon-3 p.m. ET) of live final round coverage of the event at Augusta National on Saturday.
Galitsky will be the first player off from the Carolina trio at Champions Retreat on Wednesday at 8:23 a.m. (ET) paired alongside Korea’s Soomin Oh and Bailey Shoemaker from the U.S. who plays collegiately for Southern Cal. Darling goes off at 9:32 a.m. and Rydqvist at 9:44 a.m. Live scoring will be available on the tournament’s website here.
