Freshman from Chiang Mai, Thailand shot 66 (-6) to tie the tournament final round scoring record on Saturday

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Freshman standout Eila Galitsky fired the low score of the day with a 66 (-6) that jolted her into a top-five finish at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur on Saturday. The Chiang Mai, Thailand native’s low score tied Bailey Shoemaker last season for the lowest final round in ANWA history in six all-time tournaments.

Galitsky, a mid-year enrollee for the No. 5 Gamecocks who won in her second collegiate start, was on fire on the front nine, turning in a bogey free 31 (-5) that featured a stretch on holes six thru eight that went birdie-birdie-eagle. The only blemish on her scorecard all day was a bogey on hole 10 after she just missed the fairway left. Galitsky hit a great chip shot from just left of the green to 5-feet. Her par putt horseshoed out of the hole. She made birdie on the two par-5s on the back nine at holes 13 and 15. Galitsky also had good birdie opportunities on 14, 16, 17 and 18 coming into the clubhouse that just missed. She was dialed in with 17 greens in regulation hit today as she T-4th in the 71-player field.

Her front nine 31 today was the first ever 5-under, nine-hole score at Augusta National Golf Club in the six-year history of the ANWA.

Galitsky’s 54-hole total of 208 (-8) is the lowest by a Gamecock all-time at the ANWA. She joins former All-American Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (T-3rd in 2021 with 2-over total of 218) as the only South Carolina players to record a top-five finish in the event. She finished T-8th last year in what was her second appearance after missing the cut in 2023.

Senior All-American Louise Rydqvist also made the cut at 2-under like Galitsky. She shot 76 (+4) with a birdie at the famous par-3, 16th hole. Rydqvist finished T-27th with a 54-hole total of 218 (+2). She has made the cut in both of her ANWA appearances the last two seasons.

Carla Bernat Escuder won the title with a 12-under total of 204 (-12) thanks to three consecutive 68s (-4). The Kansas State senior became the first Spanish player to win the ANWA.

The Gamecocks will return to the course for the SEC Championship April 14-18. Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla. will play host to the conference tournament for the second consecutive year.
