No. 4 Gamecocks Open Play at SEC Championship Monday

South Carolina Athletics

Pelican Golf Club will be hosting the conference tournament again for the second consecutive year

BELLEAIR, Fla. – No. 4 South Carolina opens play at the 2025 SEC Championship on Monday morning. Pelican Golf Club is hosting the event for the second consecutive year. Teams will play 54-holes of stroke play the first three days to crown an individual SEC Champion with the top-eight teams advancing to the match play quarterfinals on Thursday morning.

The Gamecocks have made match play all six years of the new format dating back to 2018 with a pair of title match appearances.

Last season, Carolina earned the No. 1 seed for match play after shooting 837 (-3). The Gamecocks were the only team in the field under par in stroke play led by senior All-American Louise Rydqvist, who finished as runner-up medalist thanks to a 54-hole total of 203 (-7). Senior All-American Hannah Darling shot 208 (-2) to finish T-6th. Both players were First Team All-SEC selections last season.

The duo, who have been mainstays in Carolina’s lineup the last four seasons, are joined this week by freshman Eila Galitsky, graduate Sophia Burnett and sophomore Maylis Lamoure, who is making her second SEC Championship start. Sophomore Vai Heck will serve as the team’s substitute heading into stroke play.

Rydqvist (No. 7), Galitsky (No. 17) and Darling (No. 18) are all ranked in the top-20 of the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings.

The Gamecocks will be the No. 2 seed this week in a 16-team field that features 10 top-25 teams in the latest Clippd Poll. Carolina will be paired with No. 2 Arkansas and No. 6 Texas for the opening 18-holes on Monday morning. Lamoure will be the first player off for Carolina at 8 a.m. (ET) on hole one.

Golfstat will have live scoring all week here.
