Seven Gamecocks Named ITA Scholar Athletes
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina men’s tennis team was named an ITA All-Academic Team for the 14th consecutive year and seven Gamecocks were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, announced by the organization on Monday.
This year’s seven honorees are the most Gamecocks to receive this award since 2020.
Recent graduates Connor Thomson and Casey Hoole were named Scholar-Athletes in addition to Cole Henceroth, Paul Barbier Gazeu, Atakan Karahan, Gabe Avram and Max Stenzer. This marks Thomson’s fifth time earning the recognition.
In order to be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a grade point average of at least a 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year or be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
994 Division I Men’s student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 159 men’s tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
