Gamecocks Stay Undefeated with 3-0 Senior Night Win
COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 12 South Carolina women’s soccer (4-0-1) pulled off a win over Georgia State (3-1-0) 3-0 on Sunday night (Aug. 31) during Senior Night at Stone Stadium. The Gamecocks saw goals from junior Cuyler Zulauf and seniors Taylor Bloom and Kinley Brown.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gamecocks had three shots on goal in the first 15 minutes, while dominating possession. In the 15th minute, they secured the early lead as sophomore Katie Shae Collins crossed the ball from the right side, finding junior Cuyler Zulauf who connected the ball to the net
- At the half, the Gamecocks had 14 shots on goal, two shots short of surpassing the most shots in a single game this season
- In the 60th minute, the Gamecocks extended the lead as senior Taylor Bloom found the net with an assist from freshman Alexa Pino. This was both Bloom’s first goal and Pino’s first assist of the season
- To extend the lead further, in the 79th minute, senior Kinley Brown pushed the ball into the net, following a blocked shot by junior Autumn Cayelli off the Panthers’ keeper
- Senior goalkeeper Maria Kemp had two saves in her first in-game appearance of her career
- The win marks a continued undefeated record for the Gamecocks at 5-0-1
