Volleyball Hits the Road for First Three Away Games of the Season

COLUMBIA, S.C. – After opening the season at home last weekend, South Carolina Volleyball (2-1) hits the road its first set of away matches. The Gamecocks kick things off with a midweek matchup against Coastal Carolina (1-1) on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 6:00 p.m. before spending the weekend in Florida, facing Florida State (2-0) on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 3:00 p.m. and USF (0-2) on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1:00 p.m.

The Coastal Carolina and USF matches will be streamed on ESPN+. Fans can also follow along on social media through @GamecockVolley on X and @GamecockVB on Instagram.

This week marks the first time South Carolina has faced all three opponents in at least a decade. The Gamecocks last played Coastal in 2015, though the teams met for an exhibition last season in Columbia. Their most recent meeting with Florida State came in 2006, while their last matchup with USF dates back to the 1990s.

The Garnet & Black began the season with the Gamecock Classic this past weekend, hosting ETSU, Campbell and Clemson across three days. South Carolina got off to a hot start, sweeping ETSU and Campbell before narrowly falling to Clemson in five sets. Victoria Harris, Nia Hall and Tori Hill were named to the All-Tournament Team for their standout efforts throughout the weekend. Hall and Hill led the offense, putting up a combined 80 kills throughout all three games. Against Clemson, Hall matched her career high 23 kills while Hill followed closely behind with 18. Harris anchored the backline, dishing out 34 digs, roughly three per set.

Through three matches, the Gamecocks are hitting .261 as a team — up from .216 a year ago at this time. Hall and Hill lead the squad with 40 kills apiece, while Kimmie Thompson holds a team-high of 60 assists. Harris leads the defense with 34 digs.
