No. 12 Gamecocks Finish Fifth at Stephens Cup

LAKE BLUFF, Ill. – No. 12 South Carolina finished fifth at the Stephens Cup on Tuesday at Shoreacres. The Gamecocks match play bid fell just shy against another elite field of competition this week that featured six top-15 teams.

Junior transfer Alicia Olsson and sophomore All-American Eila Galitsky led Carolina this week as the duo finished T-9^th at 3-over. Olsson fired the low final round for the Gamecocks today with a 1-under 69 that featured a trio of birdies on the par-70 layout. She rose seven spots on the leaderboard to secure her first top-10 finish in Garnet and Black.

Galitsky’s low round of the tournament came on Monday in round one as she shot 68 (-2) thanks to six birdies. The top-10 finish is her sixth in eight career starts at South Carolina dating back to last February.

French juniors Vairana Heck (5-over) and Maylis Lamoure (9-over) each finished in the top-20 as well. Heck was steady with rounds of 71-72-72 making eight birdies over the course of 54 holes. Lamoure shot 73 (+3) each day, highlighted by a round one finish that featured three birdies in her final four holes.

Freshman Laura Nepper gained more valuable experience this week in the what was just the second start of her college career on a firm and fast golf course that played difficult for all six teams in the field. Just six players total broke par, led by Wake Forest’s Macy Pate who took home medalist honors at 8-under. The Demon Deacons were the only team to fire a red number in stroke play as well.

The Gamecocks two-week road swing to start the 2025-26 season comes to close as the team will be off until the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel, Oct. 17-19, at Finley Golf Club.
