Gamecocks Split Squad for Opening Weekend of Fall Season

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis opens the 2025 fall slate this weekend, splitting between two events. Select Gamecocks will compete at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, while the rest of the squad hosts the Carolina Classic at the Carolina Tennis Center in Columbia.

The Carolina Classic is slated to take place at the Carolina Tennis Center outdoor courts Friday, Sept. 19- Sunday, Sept. 21. Live stream will be available for all courts throughout all three days on Track Tennis. Competition will feature two rounds of singles on Friday, one round of singles and two rounds of doubles on Saturday, and one round each of singles and doubles on Sunday. A total of 31 players will compete in singles and/or doubles.

Representing the Gamecocks at the Carolina Classic will be Gabe Avram, Paul Barbier Gazeu, Cole Henceroth, Atakan Karahan, Max Stenzer, and Charlie Swaine, who will all compete in both singles and doubles. Swaine, the team’s lone freshman this season, is set to make his collegiate debut. Draw information and results can be found here.

The ITA All-American Championships are set to be hosted at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma from Saturday, Sept. 20- Sunday, Sept. 28. Live streaming will be available on Track Tennis and live scoring on Score Buzzer. Additionally, Cracked Racquets will have a live stream covering the main draw matches. Prequalifying will be held over the first two days, followed by two days of qualifying. Main draw play begins Wednesday, Sept. 24, with the singles Round of 64 and doubles Round of 32, continuing through the remainder of the tournament.

Lucas Andrade da Silva and Sean Daryabeigi are the two Gamecocks who were selected to represent the Garnet & Black in Tulsa. Draw information will be released on the ITA webpage at a later date.

Daryabeigi and da Silva are the veteran returners of this year’s squad, both earning ITA preseason rankings heading into their junior and senior campaigns, respectively. Daryabeigi led the team after being tabbed No. 56 followed by da Silva at No. 64. In doubles, da Silva and sophomore Karahan open at No. 40, while Daryabeigi and sophomore Stenzer sit at No. 74. Barbier Gazeu also earned recognition, debuting at No. 8 in the ITA Newcomer rankings.
