No. 12 Gamecocks Remain on the Road Against Oklahoma

COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 12 South Carolina women’s soccer (8-1-2, 2-0-1) remains on the road to take on Oklahoma (8-2-1, 1-2-0) in Norman on Friday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. EST. The match will be streamed live on SECN+. 

LAST TIME OUT

  • The Gamecocks drew 0-0 with the Florida Gators on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 21). It was the Gamecocks’ eighth shutout this season, tying for the most in NCAA DI soccer. 
  • Freshman forward Katie Shea Collins led the team with five shots on goal through 75 minutes of action. 
  • Senior keeper Tina Tsaousis’ GAA of 0.31 leads the SEC and is sixth in the country. The three goals allowed through 11 games so far this season are the fewest since 2013.
  • Tsaousis also leads the SEC in save percentage with 0.864. 
  • Sophomore forward Katie Shea Collins leads the team with seven goals and 15 points on the season. 
  • Collins is second in the SEC for shots on goal per game with 2.00, which earns her a spot in the top 20 in the country. 
  • Freshman forward Mackenzie Johnson is a close second with five goals and two assists for 12 points. 
  • South Carolina is 8-0-0 when scoring first this season. 

SCOUTING THE SOONERS

  • Friday’s matchup with Oklahoma will be just the third in program history. Each of the previous matches has gone to double overtime. 
  • The two teams first met in 2015 when the Gamecocks won 2-1 in Columbia (Aug. 23), and most recently met in 2016 when the two teams drew 1-1 in Norman (Aug. 19). 
  • The Sooners enter the match coming off a 3-0 loss to No. 17 Vanderbilt. 
  • Junior forward Naomi Clark leads the team with seven goals and three assists for 17 points on the season.
