Gamecocks Pick Up a Point in Top-10 Matchup
COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 10 South Carolina women’s soccer (9-1-3, 3-0-2) drew 2-2 with No. 7 Arkansas (6-2-3, 4-0-1) on Thursday night, picking up a point in conference play. Senior Gracie Falla led the Gamecocks with the game-tying goal late in the second half. The Gamecocks remain undefeated in SEC play through five games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gamecocks got on the board first in the 10th minute on a chance from a corner kick. Junior Cuyler Zulauf gave the cross and senior Taylor Bloom got her head on the ball to give South Carolina the early lead.
- The goal was Bloom’s third of the season as a defender, and the assist was Zulauf’s second on the year.
- Arkansas cancelled out the early opener when a shot by Bella Field found the back of the net, slipping just past Gamecock keeper Tina Tsaousis
- Both teams battled for possession throughout the rest of the first half, but neither were able to find the back of the net. Arkansas led shots on goal 4-1 heading into the locker room.
- The Razorbacks claimed the lead in the 57th minute
- South Carolina leveled the score in the 81st minute when sophomore Katie Shea Collins crossed the ball to junior Kylie Cino at the top of the 18-yard box. Cino laid the ball off to senior Gracie Falla, who slotted the ball into the bottom right of the net for the equalizer.
- The goal was Falla’s first of the season and the third of her career. It was her first goal since 2023 (vs. Georgia, 10/22/23)
- South Carolina remains undefeated at 9-0-1 when scoring first this season.
- Senior keeper Tina Tsaousis tied a season high of four saves
