Gamecocks Hit the Road for Top-10 Double Header

BLYTHEWOOD, SC – No. 2 South Carolina Equestrian (2-0, 1-0) is set to hit the road for the first time this season, taking on No. 1 Georgia (2-0, 0-0) and No. 9 UC Davis (2-1) in a top-10 doubleheader matchup. The Gamecocks will first take on the Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Aggies.

“As we compete in multiple away meets over the next few weeks, I am looking for the team to stay consistent and adaptable to the challenges that road meets give,” head coach Carol Gwin said. “They are very prepared and I am feeling very positive about the weekend!”

LAST TIME OUT

South Carolina kept the good times rolling, defeating No. 4 Texas A&M in an SEC Championship rematch, 14-6. The eight-point spread marked the largest win over the Aggies in program history. It was the second top-five win for the Gamecocks after taking down No. 2 SMU in the season opener (Sept. 26).

“I am so thrilled with how prepared all of our assistant coaches had our athletes for this meet,” head coach Carol Gwin said. “We’ve been working hard on our consistency, and I think it showed today with several different individuals contributing to the point total in both disciplines.”

Three Gamecocks took home MOPs, with Grace Rabb (Fences) and Kenley Koch (Flat) picking up the first of their careers. Sophomore Reiner Olivia Cardi nabbed her first of the season and the third of her career.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

Friday’s meet will be the 62nd in program history, with Georgia leading the series 43-18 overall. The two teams last met in Bishop, with the Bulldogs taking a close 11-8 win (Feb. 22). Returners Grace Rabb (Flat) and Carly Jenkins (Horsemanship) both picked up MOPs.

Georgia enters the 2025-26 season coming off a National Championship after defeating SMU, for the program’s eighth title. The Bulldogs have defeated Baylor (17-3) and Delaware State (11-8) so far this season. Friday’s matchup will be the first in SEC play for Georgia.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES

South Carolina and UC Davis have faced off just three times, with the Gamecocks leading things 2-1. The pair last met in the 2024-25 season, where South Carolina defeated the Aggies 10-7 on the road. Two returning Gamecocks earned MOPs in that meet, including Natalie Jayne (Fences) and Jenkins (Horsemanship).
