Gamecocks Fall in SEC Tournament Opener
PENSACOLA, FL – The No. 22 Gamecocks (10-4-5, 4-2-4) faced Alabama (10-7-1, 4-6-0) in the first round of the 2025 SEC Tournament, falling to the Tide 2-0.
South Carolina was quick to take chances, seeing their first from Taylor Bloom in the fourth minute but finishing too far right. Two minutes later, Amanda Patrick made a shot to the bottom left corner, but was met by a save from Alabama keeper Madi Munguia.
The Gamecocks took three more attempts with two on goal, but were unable to get on the board. The Tide finished the first half with six shots and one on goal, but also found themselves scoreless heading into the locker room.
Alabama got things started in the second half, taking thrree shots within three minutes. Kaite Shea Collins took two more for the Gamecocks over the next 10, but both fell wide. In the 75th minute, the Tide capitalized on an unattended goal, making things 1-0 with 15 minutes remaining. South Carolina fought back, taking five more chances with one on goal, but were unable to find the equalizer. Alabama then tacked on some insurance with Gianna Paul connecting on a deflected ball in the 88th minute.

South Carolina will await its fate in the NCAA Tournament, with the selection show taking place on Monday, Nov. 10.
