Gamecocks Hit the Road for Final Fall Matchup
COLUMBIA, SC – No. 2 South Carolina Equestrian (5-1, 1-1) is set to hit the road for No. 3 Auburn (3-1, 0-1), competing in their final meet of the fall.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gamecocks had a strong outing on the road in Tennessee, defeating SDSU (12-3) and UT Martin (15-4) in a doubleheader weekend.
Amira Kettaneh (Fences), Mary Hunter Millet (Flat), and Lillian Laney (Horsemanship) picked up MOPs against SDSU, while Kettaneh (Flat and Fences), Carly Jenkins (Horsemanship), and Haley Turner earned the honors against UT Martin. Laney, Jenkins and Turner’s MOPs were their first of the season, while Laney’s was also the first of her career as a Gamecock.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Saturday’s meet will be the Auburn will be the 61st in program history. Auburn leads the all-time series, 39-21. The Tigers won both regular-season meetings last year, but fell to the Gamecocks in the SEC Equestrian Championship semifinals on the way to the program’s third SEC Championship title.
The Tigers enter Saturday’s meet with a 3-1 record. After defeating No. 8 Baylor to open the season, Auburn competed in three consecutive road meets in Texas, where it narrowly fell to Texas A&M in a raw-score total tiebreaker, defeated No. 7 SMU, and then took down No. 7 TCU.
