Edwards, Latson on Wooden Midseason Top 25

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s basketball forward Joyce Edwards and guard Ta’Niya Latson earned spots on the John R. Wooden Award 2025-26 Women’s Midseason Top 25 Watch List. They are two of the 14 SEC players to make the list.

Edwards is in the midst of a standout sophomore season, ranking 12th in the nation in scoring (21.0 ppg) and in field goal percentage (.609). She has scored at least 20 points in nine of her 16 games this season, including her first career 30-point outing, and has four games of shooting over 80.0 percent from the field. She is stuffing the box score beyond scoring, handing out a career-best 2.6 assists per game and ranking ninth in the SEC in blocks per game (1.5) and 14th in steals per game (1.9).

Latson is second on the team and 11th in the SEC in scoring at 16.9 points per game and enjoying the most efficient offensive season of her career. Her .519 field goal percentage ranks ninth in the SEC and includes 41.7 percent accuracy from 3-point range. She has scored in double figures in 13 of her 14 games this season, including four 20-point outings. Her 4.0 assists per game are 13th in the SEC and her 2.43 assist-to-turnover ratio is seventh.

No. 3/3 South Carolina is in action at Arkansas on Thu., Jan. 8, and returns home to host Georgia at Colonial Life Arena on Sun., Jan. 11, at 2 p.m.
