Rabb Sisters Sweep Jumping Seat MOPs for Second Meet in a Row
DALLAS, TX – The Tour of Texas wrapped up on Saturday afternoon, with a top-10 matchup between the No. 3 Gamecocks and No. 6 Mustangs of SMU. South Carolina rode to new season highs, but was outmatched 12-7. Despite the loss, twin sisters Sarah and Grace Rabb swept the Jumping Seat MOPs for the second consecutive meet.
“I’m very proud of the way our team handled the circumstances today,” head coach Carol Gwin said. “Our coaches were great in preparing our girls, and the team did a fantastic job getting through three meets in three days. It is not an easy task, and our athletes competed to the best of their abilities this week while battling the elements.”
aHOW IT HAPPENED
Fences got the day started, with the Mustangs coming out on top 3-2. Grace Rabb picked up her point and MOP for an 85-82 victory on Calino, while Bella Primavera edged out 84-83 on Hardy.
Over in Horsemanship, Carly Jenkins picked up a point for the Gamecocks on Moe, defeating Shaelyn Boutelle with a career-high tying 77.5-74. Lillian Laney tied 73-73 with Ava Blyth on Pete.
Reining opened up the second half, where the Gamecoks took things 3-2. Fershman Emily Patton continued her winning streak from the meet prior, earning a 72 on fan favorite Jon Snow to defeat Siena Krueger’s 71. Mattie McNeill followed suit, earning her point 70.5-68.5 on Shiney, while Olivia Cardi rounded out scoring with a 72-71.5 win on Ruffin.
The day concluded on the Flat, with Sarah Rabb earning the sole point for the Gamecocks. Her 83-81 win earned her her third MOP of the season, and was the highest score of the day in the event.
