Benjamin Jackson, MD
J. Benjamin Jackson III, MD, MBA, FAOA, FACS, completed his undergraduate education at Mars Hill College in Asheville, North Carolina, where he competed in cross country and track and field at the Division II level and was a two-time NCAA Academic All-American. He earned an MBA from the UofSC – Darla Moore School of Business and then completed medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where he served as student body president.
Dr. Jackson completed his orthopedic residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he received the resident teaching award. He completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the University of Utah and currently serves as an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
Dr. Jackson’s clinical interests include patients with injuries and disorders of the foot and ankle. Dr. Jackson is a national leader in foot and ankle. He has published eight book chapters and more than 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts, in addition to having more than $3 million of federal research funding. He has presented national lectures for the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) and the National Hyperbaric Medicine Association. He serves on committees for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the AOFAS. He is a journal reviewer for four major orthopedic journals. He has been awarded a utility patent for an orthopedic device and has several other patents pending. His work has been recognized by orthopedic manufacturers, and he has been sought out for the development of orthopedic devices and procedures. Locally, he is the Head Team Physician for the University of South Carolina track and field and cross country teams.
He was a member of the medical staff for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon. Dr. Jackson is the foot and ankle consultant for the University of South Carolina, South Carolina State University, Newberry College, Allen University, Benedict College and Columbia International University. He has served as the president of the South Carolina Orthopaedic Association. He is Medical Director for the Foot and Ankle Division at Prisma Health. Additionally, he serves as leader on both hospital and departmental committees. He believes he can improve the outcomes of his patients through quality research and individualized patient care.
Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four boys and previously officiating collegiate and professional soccer.
