Charlie Ball-Burrell
Charlie Ball-Burrell was named Associate Athletics Director for Academics at the University of South Carolina on August 12, 2022.
Ball-Burrell comes to South Carolina from the University of Mississippi, where she was the Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Enrichment for the last three years and had been on the Rebels staff since 2009.
In her role at South Carolina, Ball-Burrell will oversee the Athletics Department’s academic support program and staff that benefits Gamecock student-athletes in their pursuit of graduation, including providing resources such as tutoring, study hall, course advisement and tracking of NCAA eligibility. She will also work closely with campus partners and report regularly to the University Provost.
Ball-Burrell attended Alcorn State University and later graduated from Mississippi State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in physical education. She earned of Master of Art degree in Higher Education and Student Personnel from Ole Miss in May 2020.
Ball-Burrell was a graduate assistant at the Walter Payton Wellness and Recreation Center at Jackson State University for the 2008-09 academic year. While at JSU, Ball helped create the building and program layout for childcare services for patrons participating in recreational sports programming. Ball also took over member services, payroll duties and assisting with overseeing all building supervisors. During her time at the University of Mississippi, Charlie oversaw the day to day operations of the academic enrichment unit along with summer bridge programming, payroll, campus collaborations, tutorial and served as the psychological services liaison. Ball-Burrell was also the 2018-2019 Overall Outstanding Staff Member at the University of Mississippi.
Ball-Burrelll got her start in athletics as a marketing intern for women sports at Mississippi State University, while working as a building supervisor at the Joe Frank Sanderson Center. Her duties included promoting women’s sports, assisting with daily facility operations and event set up.
The Foxworth, Miss. native has two sons, Albert and Cedric, Jr.
