Harold White

Harold White is in his 32nd year with the Gamecock athletic program. He is the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academics.

White returned as head of academic support for Gamecock student-athletes the summer of 1993. White had previously served in the capacity for 16 years, from 1973-89.

In 1993, White was awarded the prestigious Lan Hewlett Award by the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) for his service in academic advising. He was also recognized as one of the founders of the N4A organization. White also was in the school’s NCAA Compliance Officer for two years after heading up the academic office. He was the director of Carolina’s Wellness Program for 11 years (1988-1999).

A native of Columbia, White came to USC in 1971 as a graduate assistant football coach before becoming an academic counselor in 1973. White received his B.S. degree in Physical Education from South Carolina State College in 1963.

White and his wife, Lilly, have two daughters, Tamiko Richardson and Thyra Austin, and three grandchildren, Andrew Richardson, Amber Austin and Aaron Austin.
