- Won 17 matches with partner Shannon Williams at the top position, earning them CCSA All-Conference honors – the first Gamecock pair to make the postseason list.
- Her signature win of the season came in a three-set takedown of No. 2 Southern Cal’s top team of Bustamante and Graudina, helping the team upset the Women of Troy.
- Bates and Williams also had ranked wins over No. 18 FAU and No. 18 Georgia State.
2018
- Went 22-10 as an individual, and 22-9 with teammate Katie Smith (3-3 at No. 1, 16-4 at No. 2).
- The pair’s 22 overall wins are third-most in a single season in program history.
- Went 6-2 against conference opponents with Smith, with seven wins over AVCA top-20 teams.
- Bates and Smith had signature wins over No. 11 Georgia State, No. 7 LSU, No. 3 Hawai’i and No. 11 Grand Canyon in the regular season, and defeated No. 19 Tulane’s pair of McHugh/Mertz at the conference tournament.
- Named the CCSA Pair of the Week on March 27, after wins over FGCU, Hawai’i, TCU and UAB at the team’s Gamecock Challenge Tournament.
- Qualified for the USA Volleyball Collegiate Championship and made the quarterfinal round.
PREVIOUS SCHOOL
- Played in 83 career matches at Duke, totaling 620 kills and 559 digs over four seasons.
- Had a career year as a senior, averaging 3.11 kills and 3.17 digs per set while playing in all 121 sets for the team.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB
- Helped Great Oak to its best record in program history at 27-2 as a senior, guiding the Wolfpack to the 2013 Southwestern League championship and the CIF-SS Division 1AA semifinals.
- Led Great Oak with 234 kills and also registered 166 digs during her senior season.
- Garnered league MVP, first team all-area, first team All-CIF-SS Division 1AA, first team all-state and Citrus Belt Area Athletic Directors Association Senior Female Athlete of the Year honors.
- Selected to the High Performance Youth National A2 Team as well as the Olympic Development Program in Colorado Springs.
