- Finished her career with her best season, ending with a 26-6 record as an individual. That is one win shy of the single-season record for the program, and her .813 win percentage is good for third-best in program history.
- Went 9-3 against ranked opponents and set a single-season record with 14 wins against conference rivals for the year.
- Breaking down her record, she went 9-3 at No. 3 and 17-3 at No. 4.
- Won 11 matches in a row with teammate Jordan Smith, the second-longest win streak ever by a Gamecock pair.
- Spent most of the season paired with Smith; the duo’s 17-3 record together set a single-season record for highest pair win percentage (.850).
- Ends her career ranked eighth in career wins (52), fifth in conference wins (23) and sixth in wins against ranked opponents (16).
2020
- Moved to the top of the lineup with partner Carly Schnieder, playing nine matches at No. 1 and the other three at No. 2 before the season was cut short.
- Grinded out a 15-21, 21-17, 17-15 win with Schnieder on court one for the clinching point to help the Gamecocks take down No. 14 Long Beach State on March 7, 3-2.
2019
- Made the biggest year-to-year jump in program history, going from five wins in 2018 to 19 wins as a sophomore.
- 16 wins came in the No. 4 position, six came against conference rivals and four came against ranked opponents.
- Her signature win came in the team’s 3-2 upset of No. 2 Southern Cal, when she teamed with Hannah Edelman to win a three-set match at the fours.
- Won seven of the last nine matches of the year, highlighted by wins over No. 20 TCU and No. 16 Georgia State.
2018
- Stepped into the lineup right away as a freshman, making 19 starts.
- Finished with five wins, highlighted by a win over No. 15 Stetson that secured the team’s overall win in the dual
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB
- High School All-American.
- Finished second in kills and third in aces in the Arizona Divison II ranks for 2015-16.
- Named to the PrepVolleyball “Senior Aces” Top 150 high school players list.
- Made the AIA All-Division 1st team.
PERSONAL
- Daughter of Jason and Julie Vastine, and has one brother — Jacob. Her mother played volleyball at Fresno State and coached Jess’ high school team.
- Plans to major in exercise science, with a goal of becoming a physical therapist.
