• Became the first player in program history to win SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year (basketball specific award began in 2004 and is voted on by the league’s 16 head coaches)
• Received his Juris Doctorate degree from the Joseph F. Rice School of Law in May and ranked in the top 8% of his class with five appearances on the Dean’s Lis tand one semester on the President’s List (4.0 GPA)
• On the court, saw action in 29 games, averaging 1.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per game in his final season in Garnet & Black
• Logged season-high 21 minutes at No. 3/3 Florida (Feb. 15) and had four rebounds and one assist
• Scored a season-high seven points with three rebounds, one block and one assist vs. No. 19/23 Ole Miss (Feb. 12)
• Was effective off the bench vs. No. 2/2 Auburn (Jan. 11) with a season-high five rebounds, three assists and a block in 10 minutes of action

2023-24 (REDSHIRT SENIOR)

• Played in 17 games averaging 2.5 points and 2.9 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game
• Pulled down seven rebounds in 15 minutes of action in a win over Virginia Tech (Nov. 10) in the Hall of Fame Series at Spectrum Center
• Scored four points and had season-high eight rebounds in win over VMI (Nov. 13)
• Went 3-of-4 from the floor with six points, four rebounds and an assist in a victory vs. Charleston Southern (Dec. 16)
• Finished with five rebounds and four points in back-to-back wins vs. Winthrop (Dec. 19) and Elon (Dec. 22)
• Best game of the season came in the non-conference finale blowout vs. Florida A&M (Dec. 30) as he had a career-high 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists ; was 4-of-4 from the floor ; was his first college game in double figures

2022-23 (REDSHIRT JUNIOR)

• Appeared in 31 games, making 14 starts in first season in Garnet & Black ; averaged 1.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game
• Shot 39.3 percent (22-of-56) from the floor
• Made his Gamecock debut in a 60-58 rivalry win over Clemson (Nov. 11) ; played 15 minutes and had two points, four rebounds and two assists
• Matched career high in points (8) and steals (2) in victory over USC Upstate (Nov. 25) ; logged season highs in rebounds (7) and assists (4) as well in the game
• Tied season high again with four assists in road win at LSU (Feb. 18)

PRE-SOUTH CAROLINA

• Saw limited action in 41 games with two starts in three seasons at Illinois (2019-22)
• Played in a career-high 24 games for the Illini in 2021-22, averaging 1.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 7.8 minutes per contest
• Shot 47.2 percent (17-for-36) from the floor in redshirt sophomore season at Illinois
• Was on pair of NCAA Tournament teams (2021, 2022) and a member of the 2021 Big Ten Tournament Champions and 2022 Big Ten Regular Season Co-Champions
• Scored career high eight points twice: vs. Arkansas State (11/12/21) and vs. Michigan State (1/25/22)
• Pulled down career-high 10 rebounds in back-to-back games to open the 2021-22 season vs. Jackson State (11/9/21) and Arkansas State (11/12/21)
• Dished out a career-high six assists vs. Texas-Rio Grande Valley (11/26/21)

PRE-COLLEGE

• Averaged 16 points, six assists and six rebounds at KA Pegasus ; shot 50 percent from the field, 38 percent from behind the arc and 78 percent at the charity stripe
• Helped lead the Pegasus Bulls to a fourth-place finish at the International School Sport Federation (ISF) World Schools Championship, the first-ever semifinals appearance for a Belgian school in the tournament
• Played for Belgium in the FIBA U16 European Championship

PERSONAL

• Son of Rony Verdonk and Luana Bosmans
• Has a younger brother, Mauro
• Graduated in three years from Illinois and is entering year three of law school at South Carolina ; one of the only law students in the country playing Division I basketball
• Played handball, soccer and swam competitively growing up
• List playing the piano as one of his hobbies
