2021 (Sophomore)
Played in 13 matches and started nine times … Scored a goal against Coastal Carolina on Sept. 11 and Gardner-Webb on Sept. 28 … Assisted on a goal against Mercer on Sept. 21 … Was fourth on the team in points with five … Earned a red card against Clemson on Sept. 3 and against Marshall on Oct. 30 … Averaged one shot per game and put a total of six shots on goal throughout the season … Logged 734 minutes on the pitch for Carolina.

2020-21 (Freshman)
Started his South Carolina career with 14 games of work in the midfield.

PRE-COLLEGE
Started playing soccer while living in Auburn, Alabama with their Youth Club at 8 years old but wanting more competitive play, decided to move to Atlanta, GA to live with is father at 13. Moved through the competitive soccer club ranks in Atlanta, playing with NASA TopHat, Georgia United and finally entering the Atlanta United Youth Academy in 2017 playing with them from U16 through U19 as forward/striker scoring 5 goals in 51 games played.
 
Matthews was one of only 2 Atlanta United Youth Academy players to be selected to represent the club at the 2018 generation Adidas Elite Soccer Program (“ESP”), the most prestigious youth development experience for young MLS Academy Players in America. ESP’s pinnacle annual event is an invitation-only week-long immersion that gathers the “best of the best” MLS Academy players to compete on the pitch and have a premium Adidas experience.
 
On July 24, 2019, Matthews appeared for Atlanta United 2, the USL Championship affiliate of Atlanta United FC, starting as a defender in a 2–2 draw with Charlotte Independence.
 
Matthews was also one of 3 Atlanta United Youth Academy players selected to train with Aberdeen Football Club, a Scottish professional football club based in Aberdeen, Scotland in 2019.
 
Matthews selected UofSC for its great college atmosphere, outstanding academic programs and playing soccer for Coach Mark Berson, the winningest-active head men’s soccer coach.
 
PERSONAL
Jordan is the son of Tanja Redd (Kelvin Redd) and Mike Matthews. Born in Lawrenceville, GA but grew up in Auburn, AL until his move to Atlanta, GA to pursue his soccer opportunities . He has an older sister, Hailey, attending Auburn University. He plans to major in either Retail Management or Sports Management.
