Derrick Moore

Derrick Moore was named the program’s Executive Director of Character and Player Development on Jan. 21, 2021. He brings his leadership, passion, energy, experience of inspiring student-athletes, coaches, and administrators to Columbia. He is also one of the most sought-after speakers in the nation.

Moore worked with the Georgia Tech football program from 2001-20. He originally was on staff with the FCA and later became the Director of Character Development for Georgia Tech Athletics. He was a key member of the renowned Georgia Tech Total Person Program.

A native of Albany, Ga., Moore is a 1992 graduate of Northeastern State University where he was an All-American running back. He was selected by Atlanta in the 1992 NFL Draft and played six years in the NFL with stops in Detroit, Carolina and Arizona. After his pro career, he coached running backs and special teams for three years at Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Moore and his wife, Stephanie Perry Moore, have three adult children, Dustyn, Sydni and Sheldyn.
