Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Mike McCall is a licensed psychologist, and he works as a full-time Senior Instructor of Psychology at the University of South Carolina, and he works part time for the University of South Carolina Athletics Department. Dr. McCall began working with the Athletics Department in August of 2006. Dr. McCall is the primary person responsible for psychoeducational assessment for specific learning disabilities and ADHD. He also provides academic screening and interpretation for new student-athletes, and he completes psychological assessment to assist with case management for the other clinicians in the department. Dr. McCall provides talk therapy and sport performance services as well.

Dr. McCall utilizes and eclectic approach when working with clients. He has experience helping clients with anxiety, depression, other mood disorders, personality disorders, ADHD, specific learning disabilities, grief, and trauma. While working with clients, Dr. McCall may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Client Centered Talk therapy, and mindfulness techniques.

Dr. McCall grew up in Baton, NC, and he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2003, he moved to Columbia, SC to complete his master’s (2007) and doctoral (2011) degrees in school psychology at the University of South Carolina, Columbia Campus.

Dr. McCall enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. In his free time, he loves playing tennis, disc golfing, and cooking meals for his family and friends. He recommends listening to the Unit3d podcast as well as Brene Brown’s podcasts (Unlocking Us, Dare to Lead).
