Erika Goodwin

Erika P. Goodwin is in her 18th year as Head Cheerleading Coach and Spirit Coordinator at the University of South Carolina. She coaches both the Coed and All Girl teams and has led both to top 10 finishes for 17 consecutive years at the National Cheerleaders Association’s Collegiate
National Championships with their most recent accomplishments including a 2021 2nd place finish for the All-Girl team in Advanced Division 1A and 4 th Place finish for the Co-Ed team in Large Co-Ed Division 1A.

Goodwin is a native of Columbia, S.C. She was a former Gamecock cheerleader and a captain of the 1999 co-ed team. Goodwin earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina specializing in Motor Development in 1999. Goodwin went on to earn her Master of Arts in Exercise Physiology from the University of Louisville where she continued her cheerleading career and a captain of the 2002 co-ed cheerleading team, Goodwin worked to combine her Exercise Science background with her cheerleading experience by writing and publishing as 1 st Author an article in the December 2004 National Strength and Conditioning Journal. This article explains a one-year exercise training regimen for the competitive collegiate cheerleader.

Goodwin lives in Lexington with her husband, Justin, and their three children, Logan, Dillon and Addisyn.
