Hudson Jacobs
South Carolina women’s basketball added Hudson Jacobs to the staff in Fall 2011 as the team’s video coordinator and was promoted to director of women’s basketball video services following the 2021-22 season.
Jacobs is responsible for recording games and practices, exchanging scouting film with opponents, breaking down film for scouting reports and for players to review, and data gathering for running analytics reports on opponents as well as self-scout. He was instrumental in South Carolina’s women’s and men’s basketball teams implementing ShotTracker so that players and coaches can get statistical feedback on their practices in real time. He also produces team highlight videos and supervises the day-to-day video needs of the coaching staff.
With Jacobs’ work in preparing scouting reports and game footage for the coach staff, the Gamecocks have reached the NCAA Tournament every year of his career, including three NCAA National Championships (2017, 2022, 2024) and four other trips to the NCAA Final Four. South Carolina has won nine SEC regular-season titles, including four undefeated conference campaigns, and nine SEC Tournament titles.
In addition to his South Carolina duties, Jacobs served as the video coordinator for USA Basketball during Dawn Staley’s tenure as the Women’s National Team head coach. He first joined the process during the team’s 2017 training camp in Santa Barbara, Calif., and was part of the contingent that went on to win gold medals in the 2018 FIBA World Cup and 2019 and 2021 FIBA AmeriCup. He also traveled with the team to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where the U.S. brought home a gold medal, its seventh straight in Olympic action.
Jacobs joined the staff after spending the 2010-11 season as video coordinator for the Charlotte 49ers men’s and women’s basketball teams. He started in the Charlotte athletics department as an administrative assistant, working with the women’s basketball and volleyball teams as well as sports information and other athletic administrators. A graduate of NC State, Jacobs worked as a team manager for the Wolfpack women’s basketball team under then-head coach Kay Yow.
Jacobs earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from NC State in 2007.
