Jan Veinot Ph.D., LPC, CMPC

Jan Veinot is responsible for providing mental health services and performance related services to student-athletes and teams. She will also consult and collaborate with coaches and athletic staff regarding issues related to sport performance and wellness.

Veinot is certified by the Applied Association of Sport Psychology as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation to provide individual and group crisis services.

Veinot earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Maine, where her research focused on the father’s influence on female athletes’ self-esteem and fear of failure. She earned her MS in Counseling and BA in Communications from the University of Southern Maine.

Professionally, she has a private counseling practice therapy working with clients of various ages in areas such as adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment, and relationship issues. She also works with athletes in areas such as performance anxiety, injury recovery, focus, and goal setting. Prior to coming to USC, Veinot worked in higher education as a Professor of Psychology, an Athletic Director, and an Assistant Dean. Veinot was an NCAA basketball player and has over 25 years of basketball coaching and refereeing experience at the high school and collegiate level.
