Joshua Fike

Josh Fike returned to his alma mater in 2022 as assistant athletic trainer for football with several years of NCAA Division I experience.

Before returning to Columbia, Fike served over two years as the Head Athletic Trainer for football and golf at Howard University in Washington, DC. He was able to enhance the sports performance department at Howard by securing a multi-year partnership with WHOOP, providing WHOOP bands to all athletes and staff to track player readiness, recovery, and sleep throughout the year. He also served as the Head Athletic Trainer for women’s basketball at Howard for the 2021-22 season.

During that year the Lady Bison won their first conference championship in 21 seasons, allowing them to play in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2001 and achieving their first NCAA tournament win in program history during the play-in game against Incarnate Word.

Prior to joining Howard University in 2020, Fike was the Head Athletic Trainer for football, track and field, and men’s & women’s tennis at Morgan State University. While at Morgan State, Fike garnered a pair of MEAC Championships with the men’s and women’s tennis team.

Fike graduated from the University of South Carolina Athletic Training Education Program in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Four years later, he received a pair of Master of Sciences in Injury Prevention and Performance Enhancement and Rehabilitation Sciences from California University of Pennsylvania. Fike has been a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer since June of 2015.

Fike and his wife, Evely, have a daughter, Bella.
