Mitch Okey

Mitch Okey

Mitch Okey is in his third season with the Gamecocks. He came to Columbia after a one-year stint at Marshall. Prior to his arrival in Huntington, Okey worked on the Georgia football strength staff in a part-time role.

Okey spent two years (2016-17) at Georgia Southern. In 2016, he was in a G.A. role before serving as Interim Head Strength Coach for Football from July to December. In 2017, he was in an assistant role for football and served as the Head Strength Coach for women’s tennis, track & field and cross-country.

Prior to that, he logged a year at UCF, working as an intern for four months before serving as an assistant strength coach for the remainder of his tenure.

Okey played baseball and interned as a strength coach for the softball, volleyball and men’s soccer teams while earning a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Flagler College in 2015. He earned his Master’s in kinesiology from Georgia Southern in 2017 and is a certified strength & conditioning specialist – NSCA. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two children, Michael and Ella.
