Yimy Queipo Rodriguez

Yimy Queipo Rodriguez joined the Gamecocks’ staff in the spring of 2023 as the team’s Director – Football Performance Nutrition.

In that role, he is responsible for managing all aspects of performance nutrition for the team which includes coordinating all meals throughout the year, counseling athletes, and analyzing the athletes body compositions and hydration needs. He collaborates with the coaching and training staffs to provide updates on nutrition concerns, priorities, and accomplishments for each individual player.

A former minor league baseball pitcher in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, Rodriguez came to Columbia after serving as the Coordinator and Performance Dietitian for the Chicago Cubs. Prior to that, he spent five and a half years as the lead sports dietitian at the University of Rochester Sports Medicine.

On the side, Rodriguez provides professional pitching instruction to baseball athletes of all ages.

Rodriguez graduated from State University of New York College at Buffalo with a bachelor’s degree in dietetics. He completed a clinical internship at Buffalo (N.Y.) General Hospital allowing him to become a Registered Dietitian. He then acquired a certified sports nutrition specialty in strength & conditioning.
