Zoë Foster, MD

Zoë Foster, MD, serves Medical Director and Team Physician for the University of South Carolina Athletics Department. During the COVID pandemic, Dr. Foster provides strong leadership as she guides the department’s efforts to protect the health of its student-athletes and staff. As part of her role, she represents the University of South Carolina on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Medical Guidance Task Force, which provides leadership and guidance to the SEC and its member institutions to help them safely and equitably navigate COVID health matters.

Dr. Foster joined the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of South Carolina in 2019 as the Program Director for the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. Fellows in this program assist with physician coverage at Gamecock team events. She also serves as team physician for the sports of women’s basketball, beach volleyball, cross country, softball, women’s tennis, women’s track and field and volleyball. In addition, she treats students, including student-athletes, at the University’s Student Health Services.

Prior to moving to South Carolina, Dr. Foster served as team physician for the University of Michigan softball and field hockey teams as well as the men’s basketball team at Eastern Michigan University. In addition, she served as a family medicine physician in the Brighton, Michigan area.

Dr. Foster completed her undergraduate and medical school education at the University of Michigan and is board certified in Family Medicine and Primary Care Sports Medicine.
