Head Coach Ray Tanner Quotes
On playing Christian Walker today
“It was a combination of things. A couple of our scouting reports told us you have to be careful with (Aaron) Barrett, stacking him with lefties the way his breaking ball rides in a little bit. Don’t get carried away with trying to stack it. That and Christian’s been having good practices lately. We are headed down the backstretch and we didn’t want to lose him. I just told him to go in there and relax. No matter what happens today the year is not over for you. He had a couple hits and one was really big for us so that was good to see.”
On Sam Dyson
“I was very happy about Sam Dyson today. I am somewhat ecstatic. I thought he was really good. You take away a couple of plays that we didn’t make, maybe a couple of balls in the outfield, not easy plays, but we could have gotten a couple outs. I thought the ball came out of his hand well. He threw some changeups, his fastball had some life.”
On the team at 11-3 in the SEC
“It’s because of this league that we play in, I don’t feel all that good about it. I’m happy to be where we are, but there is a long way to go. Tomorrow is the halfway point in the league. Certainly we’ve held our own to the halfway point.”
