WACO, Texas – South Carolina’s third-seeded Hunter Seat team defeated No. 6 seed Oklahoma State 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the Hunter Seat bracket at the 2010 Varsity Equestrian National Championships. The Gamecocks advance to the semifinals, where South Carolina will compete against No. 2 seed Auburn.
The Gamecocks tied the Cowgirls 2-2 in Equitation on the Flat, with South Carolina’s points coming from seniors Megan Massaro and Alex Haskell.
In Equitation Over Fences, it was all South Carolina as the Gamecocks cruised to a 4-0 sweep, with points coming from Massaro, seniors Nicole Bourgeois, Eleanor Kunsman, and freshman Kimberly McCormack.
South Carolina faces Auburn’s Hunter Seat squad Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals. The Gamecocks will make one change to their lineup, as freshman Alex Arute will take the place of Kunsman in Equitation Over Fences.
