Coach Major

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The fifth-ranked Gamecock equestrian team will host No. 4 Oklahoma State Saturday in the Gamecocks’ final home competition of the season. The competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in Blythewood and admission is free to the public.

“Oklahoma State is about as good as they get,” head coach Boo Major said. “Their western team is probably the best in the country, and their hunter seat team is very strong as well.”

The Gamecocks (4-4) and Cowgirls (4-2) were scheduled compete January 30, but that competition was postponed until tomorrow because of weather.

In equitation, seniors Carly Babcock, Alex Haskell, and Megan Massaro will lead the Gamecock lineup, followed by sophomores Paige Dekko and Colvin Hedgepeth. Babcock earned MVP honors against Auburn on February 6 and has been named MVP in three of her last four competitions.

In equitation over fences, Massaro will remain in the lineup for the Gamecocks, and joining her will be senior Eleanor Kunsman, junior Alex Foster, and freshmen Alex Arute and Kimberly McCormack.

In horsemanship, senior captain Emily Bookwalter will be joined by senior Amy Biffle, junior Hailey Thornton, and sophomores Maggie Fortune and Taylor Singmaster.

In reining, the Gamecocks’ lineup will be juniors Chloe Gray and Lydia Roof, sophomore Annie McDonald, and freshmen Amanda Pope and Audrey Jewell.
